Generally we know Rabindranath Tagore as an universal poet. But the poet is a perfect geographer in National Anthem of India. The names such as Punjaba - Sindhu - Gujarata - Maratha - Dravid - Utkal - Banga, Vindya- Himachal- Yamuna- Ganga- Uchchala- Jaladhi- Taranga are mentioned respectively in the Anthem. If we follow the related map, we would notice that Punjab leads south to Sindhu, Sindhu leads south to Gujarat, Gujarat leads south to Maratha and Maratha leads to south to Dravid respectively. Here Dravid means Karnataka, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Andhra. It leads north to Utkala, Utkala or Odisha leads north to Banga or Bengal respectively. The Vindhya mountain stands between North and South India. The Himachal or Himalaya mountain stands as a security on the north side. The Yamuna and the Ganga are flowing through the plainland between Himalayas and Vindhyas. These two great rivers have tied up the North and East India by the Brahmaputra river. Uchchala Jaladhi Taranga mean that India is surrounded three sides by the waves of the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea. No doubt, the geographical description of Bharat is in scientific and wonderful ways.
