Jharkhand is the 28th state of India. The name Jharkhand introduced in the Middle Ages. The physical geography of India may be divided mainly among eight parts. One of them is Chhotanagpur plateau is acuired by Jharkhand State. There are many forests of deciduous trees like Sal, Simal, Palash, Mahuwa, Babla in the state. Here deciduous area means a habitat where the trees of falling leaves in winter season. The leaves of Sal, Mahuwa etc trees fall down in winter. The falling of leaves is called PATJHAR in Hindi. Land of Patjhar was called Patjharkhand. Here Khand means land. In course of time the name Patjharkhand became Jharkhand in short. Uttarpradesh, Bihar, Westernghat are also part deciduous area but not entirely. The Jharkhand was entirlely deciduous in post. Therefore the state name Jharkhand is justified in all respect.
