The Saka-Era or Sakabda is the National Era of India. According to most historians Kushan-emperor Kanishka founded an era at the time of being emperor in 78 A.D. The said era should be known as Kanishkabda in change of Sakabda in Indian language.
In reply scholars do remark that the Kushans were in touch of the Sakas. The pluralisation made Kanishkabda as Sakabda or Saka-Era Besides above causes we have to take help of etymology to find out the roots of Saka-Era. In First phase the era was known as Kanishkabda. In second phase the word Kanishkabda was divided between two parts as Kani and Shakabda. In third phase the word Kani was omitted and rested only Shakabda or Sakabda Now-a-days the word Sakabda is written in style SAKA only.
(i) Kanishka + Abda > Kanishkabda
(ii) Kanishkabda > Kani + Shakabda (iii) Shakabda or Sakabda > Saka-Era or SAKA.
For example in Indian language we write shorter words Khristabda and Janmastami in liue of Jesus -Khristabda and Krishna-Janmastami respectively. As Jesus and Krishna are hidden in shorter words. Just like Kanishka is hidden in Sakabda. In this way we may find out the founder of the Saka-Era.
